Overview

The primary responsibility of the Key Account Manager for North America is to cultivate business relationships with end users and their partners, including installers, contractors, and engineering firms, and to increase sales of CO2 mechanical refrigeration equipment in various commercial sectors such as food retail, convenience stores, HORECA, and forecourts.

This role entails selling, promoting, and providing guidance to customers on selecting the appropriate equipment for their specific projects, while also establishing a robust network within their organizations to position Carrier as the top choice for refrigeration mechanical systems.
The candidate will focus on building a strong sales pipeline within their client base and successfully closing deals to maintain the company's leading position in the market.
As an integral part of the North American CO2 sales team, this position reports directly to the Sales Director of North America.

Responsibilities

  • Key Account development and account management;
  • High levels of sales activity with end users, contractors and consultants working within the commercial market area;
  • Assisting customers with the selection of equipment for their projects, alongside the pre-sales application team;
  • Ability to communicate across a level of commercial tiers;
  • Calculation of energy and lifecycle analysis to support sales and specification of Carrier solutions;
  • Pipeline management and follow up;
  • Proactive approach to the market.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Preferably a relevant degree such as Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration.

Practical experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in key account management and/or business development within the refrigeration, HVAC, or related sectors;
  • Ability to work with technical project sales in a commercial environment;
  • Proven experience in sales documentation, including customer development, retention, and relationship management;
  • Experience with CO2 refrigeration systems or in a company of a similar size to CARRIER is a distinct advantage;
  • New business development experience (hunter profile);

Required skills:

  • Strong key account management skills and extensive network management experience;
  • Challenger mindset with the ability to question the status quo;
  • Extensive knowledge of the commercial refrigeration industry within North America;
  • Experience in managing and updating sales pipelines;
  • Proficient in using sales tools such as Salesforce or similar;
  • Familiarity with digital sales tools, including LinkedIn, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Proficiency in English is essential;
  • Open-mindedness for entering new markets;
  • Resilience and a can-do attitude;
  • A passion for winning.
