Overview

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Data Architect with over 8 years of experience in data architecture and related fields.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing the data architecture strategy, ensuring it aligns with the overall business objectives.

This role requires a deep understanding of data management, data integration, data modeling, and data governance.

 

Responsibilities

Data Architecture Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data architecture strategy that supports the organization’s business goals;
  • Define and maintain data architecture standards, policies, and procedures.

Data Modeling and Design:

  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models;
  • Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability;
  • Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into data models.

Data Integration:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of data integration solutions, including ETL processes, data warehousing, and data lakes;
  • Ensure seamless integration of data from various sources.

Data Governance:

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and practices;
  • Ensure data quality, data security, and data privacy across the organization.

Technology Leadership:

  • Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools;
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends in data architecture and data management;
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the data engineering team.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams, and data scientists to understand and meet data needs;
  • Communicate data architecture strategies and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related field;
  • Should have vast experience in leading teams in Data Products, & Data Architecture;
  • Robust understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Virtualization;
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture principles, including data modeling techniques, data storage solutions, data integration strategies, and scalability considerations, is crucial for designing robust and scalable data systems.;
  • Solid experience in data engineering, data analysis and reporting; industry experience
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing data architecture solutions in large and complex environments;
  • Knowledge on Data warehouses, Data lakes, Pipelines for ingesting and processing data is a must;
  • Knowledge of Snowflake, R and SQL; familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, SAS, Power BI);
  • Ensure data roadmap is aligned with Carrier’s IT overall Digital and Business Strategy;
  • Track operational performance and work with other COEs and Shared Service Leaders to identify requirements for business and functional improvements;
  • Address customer issues/concerns in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Should have experience in dealing with large set of data coming from ERP systems;
  • Should possess excellent problem-solving skills to address complex data challenges, troubleshoot issues in data pipelines, optimize performance, and ensure data quality and reliability.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing with Snowflake;
  • Proficiency with data integration tools includes Glue, Informatica, SLT and techniques;
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and practices;
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Python) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud);
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and other relevant languages.
